More Than a Moment — A Bond Forged in Christ

Updated: Jul 26, 2025

Focus Scripture

"As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another." – Proverbs 27:17

"Two are better than one... If either of them falls down, one can help the other up." – Ecclesiastes 4:9-10

Thoughts

Some relationships aren't just meaningful—they’re transformational. Whether it’s your spouse, a mentor, or a friend in Christ, there are people God places in our lives who help us become more like Him. These are the ones you laugh with until your stomach hurts, cry with when life gets heavy, and sit with in the silence when no words are needed.

I remember meeting lifelong friends in Flint, Michigan—people who didn’t just walk beside me for a season but walked me closer to Jesus. In marriage, this connection is sacred. In mentorship, it’s sharpening. In spiritual friendship, it’s sustaining. These bonds reflect the heart of Christ—intimate, honest, grace-filled.

Jesus longs for that same relationship with you. Not just a passing connection, but a deep, daily walk. He wants to laugh with you, listen to you, teach you, and heal the broken parts of your story. He is the Friend, Mentor, and Bridegroom who will never leave or forsake you.

Life Application

Think about the people God has placed in your life—your spouse, a mentor, or a trusted brother or sister in Christ. Are you investing in those relationships? Are you allowing them to grow you in faith?

  • If you're married, take intentional time to pray and grow together spiritually.

  • If you're being mentored or mentoring someone, lean into vulnerability and truth.

  • If you have a friend in Christ, thank God for them—then reach out and encourage them.

And most of all—invite Jesus into the center of those connections. Let Him be the bond that holds you all together.

Closing Prayer

Lord, thank You for the people You’ve placed in my life to walk this journey with me. Whether in marriage, mentorship, or friendship, help me to build relationships that honor You and reflect Your love. Deepen my connection with You above all and teach me to love others as You first loved me. Amen.
